Never again

No matter how alluring Sears' layaway is (especially since we had to watch our credit spending with all of the credit reports NVR was pulling), I will never buy another thing from their store. We had issues with them delivering our fridge & today was just the icing on the cake.

Rob received a call that our TV was ready to be picked up, he goes up there this afternoon to get it, waits 30 minutes only to be told they gave our TV to someone else and that the best the could offer was a Sharp 60" or we could wait until the next batch of Samsungs come in, but he doesn't know when that will be and doesn't even know the new model information for those new TVs. Lovely. So they have the money we paid for our TV, but now they either want us to take a lesser quality product (even though he tried to convince my husband that Sharp is better than Samsung. Bullshit.), or we wait until who knows when to get our TV. Oh, but they gave us two $5 giftcards (that can't even be used in the same transaction) to make up for their $1100 mistake? Worst customer service ever.

  1. 5 dollars gift cards? What a way to make a customer feel welcomed back to the store. Why couldn’t they get it from a nearby store? I hope they find a solution for you.

    1. I know, right?? $10 total for them giving our almost $1200 TV to someone else? Unfortunately they don't care the 60" in stores, so this was shipped to the store for us to pick up. Best Buy has the TV for the same price we paid last month so we're going to insist on a refund and repurchase from them.

  2. I think you should talk to the store manager and if that doesn't work go higher up. There is no excuse for what happened to you. Did they even bother to call other stores to see if they had it in stock?

    1. Supposedly my husband was directed to the electronics manager (who is the same one who said Sharp is better than Samsung, so I immediately didn't trust a word out of his mouth). At this point, with the difficulties & screw ups we've already had, we're over Sears completely.

  3. If its a Sharp Aquos, JUMP ON IT! Trust me! I know people who work on tvs. If its not that brand of Sharp then dont waste your time and call corporate.

  4. OR! Get your money back...go to HH Gregg and tell them how much you want to spend on the brand that you want(tell them you want to take it home at that moment) and I bet they will come back with their manager ready to negotiate. I promise you HH Gregg is like negotiating the cost on a car. You put so much money in your home, you want to have what you want (especially what you already paid for)... and if you can get it even cheaper just by going somewhere else and negotiating why not?
Sorry, that's the financial advisor out of me not willing to take no for an answer...I will shut up now.

  5. Wow that really sucks! I hope you can get your money back and buy the TV somewhere else.

  6. That's ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. I surely would not walk out of that store until I had a better TV for the same money you already paid, pay less money for something better or I'd demand all of my money back. I guess being a business marketing/management major one of my pet peeves is customer service. While I don't believe the saying that the customer is always right, I do believe businesses need to think that way and treat their customers as if they are always right. In this case there is no disputing the customer being right, because it's very evident that Sears is the one that totally screwed up.

Anyway, I hate making scenes but I know I surely would be. and I'd be making sure that manager knew that I would be telling all of my friends and blogging about their poor service. Not to mention calling/emailing their corporate office to complain. Whatever I did, I'd be making sure they fixed their mistake. Yup, I am "that" customer.... but, enough of my rants about customer service.

Whatever you decide to do I hope it all works out for you and you get the issue fixed ASAP. Good Luck!

  8. WOW! This is unacceptable!! $10 is an insult! I would follow the suggestion of Joiful and Robin! I would definitely suggest that they offer me a huge discount for the mistake or a complete refund and head to HHGregg,Best Buys etc.

My story: The delivery guys failed to deliver my fridge on the scheduled date and when I called to complain they offered me a $75 gift card which felt like an insult!! The day of the second delivery, they told me they could not deliver my fridge because it was taken off the route by mistake and would give me another $75 gift card! I was LIVID!! I wanted my fridge, not a gift card!! So I requested to speak to a manager and insisted my fridge was delivered that DAY which they did and I still received the $150. It's a shame that I had to fight to get my fridge delivered!

  9. I agree with the others... try to get your money back and don't give them your business! I'll second the HHGreg suggestion too... we had a great experience with them with our refrigerator and washer/dryer. They even deliver on Sundays!

  11. There is no try - they have your money and they need to give it back, pronto! They are the ones who gave your set to someone else.
